Feeling Lost in Your Next Chapter? Start Here

Someone once told me to write down exactly what I wanted.

It sounded simple enough. Grab a notebook. Make a list. Picture the future.

Except I had no idea what I wanted.

I could tell you what needed to get done. What everyone else needed from me. What I was tired of. But when it came to what I wanted for my own life? Blank page.

If that sounds familiar, pull up a chair. You're in the right place.

WHEN YOU'VE BEEN EVERYTHING TO EVERYONE

A new chapter doesn't always arrive with a clear plan and a fresh burst of motivation. Sometimes it looks like sitting in a quiet house and wondering who you are now. Sometimes your calendar is full, but something still feels missing.

Maybe a relationship has changed. Your children need you differently. You're worn out from caring for everyone. Or the life you worked so hard to build just doesn't feel like it fits anymore.

You can love people, appreciate parts of your life, and still want something to change. Those feelings can exist together.

For me, learning to hear my own voice again took practice. So did resting without feeling guilty. I didn't suddenly wake up with every answer. I started paying attention to the small things I had been brushing aside.

Here are a few places you can begin, too.

1. START WITH HOW YOU WANT TO FEEL

If “What do I want from my life?” feels too big, try a smaller question: “How would I like to feel a little more often?”

Calm? Connected? Curious? Supported? Like you have some breathing room?

Choose one word. Then ask what might bring a little of that feeling into today. If your word is connected, maybe it's calling a friend. If it's calm, maybe it's taking your tea outside for five quiet minutes.

You don't need a five-year plan to notice what feels good to you.

2. NOTICE WHAT DRAINS YOU... AND WHAT HELPS

For the next few days, pay attention after everyday moments. Which conversations leave you feeling lighter? When do you feel rushed, tense, or stretched too thin? What do you keep wishing you had time for?

Write down what you notice without turning it into another self-improvement assignment. A few honest sentences are enough.

This isn't about judging every part of your life. It's about giving your own experience a seat at the table.

3. GIVE YOURSELF A PAUSE BEFORE YOU DEMAND AN ANSWER

It's hard to hear what you need when you're rushing from one responsibility to the next.

Put your phone down for a moment. Feel your feet on the floor. Let your shoulders soften. Breathe comfortably, without trying to do it perfectly.

You might enjoy a short meditation, gentle sounds, or a quiet walk. Choose something that feels comfortable for you. The goal is simply to make a little space to check in with yourself.

Then ask: “What do I need today?” Let the answer be ordinary. Rest counts. Lunch counts. Asking someone to help counts.

4. TRY SOMETHING SMALL BEFORE YOU COMMIT TO SOMETHING BIG

You don't have to know whether a new interest is your life purpose before you try it.

Take the class. Spend ten minutes with the journal. Visit somewhere you've been curious about. Reach out to someone you miss.

Afterward, ask yourself: “Would I like more of this?” You learn something about yourself either way.

A FEW JOURNAL PROMPTS FOR THE MESSY MIDDLE

• What am I ready to have less of in my everyday life?

• When did I last feel like myself? What was I doing?

• What do I miss that I keep calling unimportant?

• If I didn't have to explain my choice to anyone, what would I like to try?

• What is one kind thing I can do for myself this week?

Pick one prompt. You don't need to finish the whole list tonight. And if your first answer is “I don't know,” try adding, “but maybe…” and see what comes next.

YOUR NEXT CHAPTER CAN BEGIN WITH A SMALL STEP

You aren't failing because you can't describe your dream life on demand. You're allowed to take time to discover what matters to you now.

That's why I created this space: to share honest conversations, simple practices, and encouragement for women navigating change. We'll talk about slowing down, making room for yourself, meditation, sound healing, and taking everyday steps toward a life that feels more like yours.

If you'd like a little structure to help you begin, my free Aligned Action Blueprint & Habit Tracker offers a place to choose small daily actions and build a rhythm that works for you.

For today, let this be enough: you don't need every answer to take one caring step toward yourself.

With love,

Tina

Something to think about: What would you like a little more of in this chapter of your life?
